i know i said i'm leaving, but i just wanted to say some stuff.
well, dani got me thinking, now i never understand why i believed my neopets layouts to be called graphic design. she doesn't really believe neopet layouts can be considered REAL graphic design, and to be honest i sort of agree with her.

i mean, yes, they are a type of graphic, i suppose, but for the most part they aren't your OWN work. yes, some of you use your own brushes to make layouts, that's great, but the majority uses brushes from other sources.
still, all they really are, are just a bunch of brushes set at overlay or some other setting.
and then there are all these people who play neopets, and then all comment away saying, "THIS IS AMAZING!~*". yeah, i'm being a hypocrite, but i just wanted to write this anyways.

don't get me wrong, though. during photo manipulations and such, a lot of people including myself use brushes that don't belong to us, but the thing is during photo manipulations you can do other things; you just don't use brushes!

yes, neopets is a great way to get started into graphics. it's why a lot of us here even started to make graphics, or even learned about adobe/psp, so i give props to them for that.

anyways, come on, venture out of the neopets layouts. try something new, something different! pick up the pen tool, idk?! be creative. you call your self graphic designers?; well prove it.

sorry if this journal doesn't make sense. the grammar and everything isn't great as i was just ranting. LOL

I agree with you 100%, Sam.
I don't consider my splats art, because I use everyone elses resources. What do I do? I change colors.

I try to make my own brushes and textures, but not all of them can be. I think I'm going to try making things that I made myself.

Neopets layouts are perhaps, becoming more unoriginal daily. But they're still fair design by definition. I don't know.

I see the point you're making and I'm hearing a lot of people saying Neopets layouts aren't real art. A) Who's fault is that. B) You can't write them all off.}

Some of them are quite good, but then again most of them I see (even mine) just look like everyone elses- just a different arrangement and such.}

I meant art. Because, technically, you're rearranging other people's stuff. Da Vinci didn't just take Picasso's painting, cut a square out, and glue it on his own.

I know. I got most annoyed when people didn't see what was a problem with the deletions. Yes, I was frustrated, but I knew they were right-- I did use other people's pictures without crediting the photographer, and I did use other people's resources. It's not okay to just say, "I have a secret place where I get my brushes."

yeah, i've never liked splats. i prefer making wallpapers.
too bad your leaving

but now everyone's leaving and then when no one uses DA, i suppose they'll all come back. i'll probably keep a DA account as well as a neopets example page.
